Thanks to the outstanding Florian Niederlechner, FC Augsburg celebrated a victory at TSG Hoffenheim and remains unbeaten in the fifth game in a row. The Augsburg defeated TSG 4-2 (1-1), Niederlechner prepared all four goals of the FCA. Philipp Max scored twice for Augsburg (11th, 51st penalty), Fredrik Jensen (51st) and Iago (85th) got the other goals. Robert Skov (14th) and Jürgen Locadia (80th) scored for Hoffenheim's goals. Augsburg (10th) and Hoffenheim (8th) are currently in the middle of the table, but can still slip on weekends.

Hoffenheim dominated the game in the first ten minutes, TSG had more than 70 percent possession. Then Augsburg took the lead with the first shot on goal: After a throw-in by Stephan Lichtsteiner, Niederlechner escaped with the ball from the TSG defense, dribbled into the penalty area and laid in front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann across to Max, who pushed into the empty goal for 1-0 ( 11). The tour only lasted three minutes. Then Hoffenheim played over the right wing to the front, Sebastian Rudy left the penalty area for the advanced left-back Skov and he hit with a low shot from 20 meters to equalize (14th).

After that, Hoffenheim was in danger of being outnumbered early. Diadié Samassékou saw the yellow card after only seven minutes. After a foul on Daniel Baier, the Augsburg team called for yellow-red, but referee Bibiana Steinhaus showed no further card (19th). Coach Alfred Schreuder replaced Samassékou ten minutes later as a precaution for Dennis Geiger (29th).

Hoffenheim doesn't get into the box often enough

Hoffenheim remained the game-determining team and kept pushing Augsburg back into the box. However, the Augsburgers were mostly compact there and did not allow another shot on goal for a long time. When Hoffenheim's Ihlas Bebou then appeared alone in front of goalkeeper Tomas Koubek after a long ball from Ermin Bicakcic, the goalkeeper quickly came out of his goal and parried the Hoffenheim chance for the lead (43.).

The second half started badly for TSG: Niederlechner shielded the ball with his body in the penalty area and was brought down by Kevin Akpoguma. Steinhaus decided on a penalty, the transformed Max for another Augsburg tour (51st). Shortly afterwards Niederlechner got the ball in midfield and sent Jensen with a steep pass into the sixteen. The striker pushed past goalkeeper Koubek to 3-1 (56th).

Hoffenheim rarely came in front of the Augsburg gate afterwards. If so, Skov was involved. He flanked the ball into the center of the box and the substituted Locadia headed to the connection (80th). After that, rooms for Augsburg counterattacks opened up. Niederlechner dribbled over the left wing and brought the ball flat into the center, where Iago unrestrictedly scored the 4: 2 (85th). In stoppage time Andrej Kramaric had another chance to connect again, but failed from a few meters to Koubek (90. + 3).
