Hannelore Kraft does not want to run in the next state election in North Rhine-Westphalia

Most recently, the former Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Hannelore Kraft (SPD) was a simple member of parliament. She no longer wants to run in the upcoming state election. This was confirmed by a spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the Düsseldorf State Parliament of the German Press Agency.

The "Neue Westfälische" reported about it first. The spokesman could not say whether the 58-year-old will completely withdraw from active politics. At first, Kraft herself could not be reached for an opinion. From 2010 to 2017, Hannelore Kraft was prime minister in North Rhine-Westphalia – one of the few women at the head of any German state. Since then she has been a simple member of the Landtag. Regular state elections are scheduled for 2022 in NRW.
